Alo Ritsing Birthday Concert

On our rehearsal on November 26, we celebrated our choir director, Alo Ritsing, turning 89 with a small concert and a festive get-together. His long journey with the Forestalia male choir will come to an end in December and we thanked him for all the effort he has put in. We also reminisced about the choir’s early days and events from its history. Mayor Urmas Klaas was there as well and greeted Tartu’s honorary citizen – that was lovely!

The planned pear tree planting was postponed until spring due to below-zero temperatures.

Silvicola 45

Forestalia’s overseas trip in October took us to Riga. We took part in the 45th anniversary celebration of the Latvian forestry men’s choir Silvicola, listened to the concert, and sang as well. Our joint piece was Mihkel Lüdig’s “Koit” — performed by a combined choir of 50 singers, it sounded truly powerful and manly!

The birthday celebration and concert were held at the Imanta Cultural Palace, which really did live up to its name. Our Latvian friends expressed a wish to visit us in Estonia next spring.
